Members’ Brunch: Blue Lab Beats
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, W1D 4HT , [Venue Details]For our first Members’ Brunch Upstairs at Ronnie’s, we welcome Blue Lab Beats for a special afternoon of conversation, new music and live performance, alongside the launch of our new brunch menu.
Over the past decade, NK-OK and Mr DM have become central figures in a new generation of UK jazz musicians who have blurred the boundaries between jazz, hip-hop, soul and electronic music. What began with two teenagers making music together has grown into an international career, with more than 85 million streams, collaborations with artists including Kojey Radical, Nubya Garcia and Sampa The Great, a GRAMMY win for their production on Angélique Kidjo’s Mother Nature, and performances everywhere from Glastonbury and Montreux Jazz Festival to the Royal Albert Hall.
With Blue Lab Beats currently performing a monthly residency Upstairs at Ronnie's, this is a chance to hear the story behind that journey directly from the duo. Their manager, Kwame Kwatem, will lead a conversation about their beginnings, the evolution of their sound and the experiences that have shaped Blue Lab Beats over the past ten years. The conversation will open out into a Q&A before the duo premiere two brand-new tracks and perform a live set featuring vocals and horns.
This will also be the launch of our new Upstairs brunch menu, designed to complement an afternoon of music, conversation and good company
